Dementia Care
Our approach to caring for people with dementia is based on seeing the uniqueness of each person.
Dementia in all its forms is indiscriminate and affects people in a variety of ways.
We focus on maximising the abilities of people. This is done by understanding their unique life biography and enhancing their remaining skills.
Recreational opportunities are, wherever possible, linked with the past interests and experiences of individuals, although "group" events such as entertainment are valued.
Staff are trained to work in this "person first way". Our dementia care training programme is offered at three levels.
Working closely with families and other significant people is central to this approach. We aim to involve all of those people who can help improve the well being of the person with dementia.
