Valuables
Quantum Care doesn't insure personal items and valuables, such as jewellery, money and ornaments. It's probably best, therefore, for residents to consider carefully which things they want to bring with them, as we can't guarantee the safety of personal possessions. For short periods, the home manager may agree to keep specific items in the safe, but residents are expected to take responsibility for insuring the things they own.
It's also worth remembering the following points:
- Rings can be lost from fingers if residents' weight fluctuates and this is something that happens frequently. You may want to consider keeping engagement, wedding and eternity rings safely.
- Money can be dropped or mislaid if it is left with a resident. We can not be responsible for any cash which isn't handed to the office for safekeeping.
- Credit and debit cards can also be mislaid. It is dangerous to write your PIN number down and put it with the card.
- Staff cannot be given numbers to credit or debit cards to assist with withdrawals as it leaves them vulnerable to suspicion if a problem arises. Unless a resident can remember the PIN number and use the card independently, then it's best not to bring the card to the home.
- Ornaments and fragile items may get damaged in a busy home.
