Nutrition at Quantum Care

Food isn’t only one of the greatest pleasures in life. It’s also vital to physical and mental wellbeing. That’s why Quantum Care places such an emphasis on the experience of eating.

As we specialise in caring for people living with dementia, we often have to change the presentation and style of our food so that it’s tempting and easy to access. For people who are unable to use a knife and fork, for instance, we might offer finger foods. When residents have difficulty swallowing, we can liquidise their meals. The important thing is that they actually enjoy the experience of eating, so we always ensure that everything we serve – in whatever form – is well presented and appetising.

All our meals are prepared using fresh ingredients from sustainable sources that are as local as possible. We have also been working with our Chef Managers throughout 2008 to provide better nutrition to those residents with low Body Mass Indexes and to concentrate on different styles of food and food service for those with dementia.

All of our kitchens produce a variety of menu choices every day and are experienced in meeting medical, ethnic and religious dietary needs.
