Dementia Training Accredited by Edexcel
28 February 2008

Quantum Care Ltd

In February 2008 Quantum Care’s Training department was successful in gaining accreditation as a provider of the Edexcel Level 2 BTEC award in Dementia Care in respect of the company’s popular and well respected Intermediate Dementia Care course

This training course, which forms the middle layer of our tiered dementia training programme, is aimed at staff working on dementia units. It involves learners in 30 hours of guided learning, made up of a mixture of formal taught sessions, individual research and a work based project that links learning with practice.

The course, initiated in 2002, has received very positive feedback from participants and line managers who report a clear benefit in terms of work practice. This training has been provided to external organisations, with a very positive response.

It is a particular pleasure to the trainers involved in designing and delivering the original course, that, with only a few modifications to the assessment activities, it has been recognised and accredited as a Level 2 BTEC award. This means that from this month onwards, staff undertaking this training can, on successful completion of the course work, gain a nationally recognised qualification.

It is planned to seek accreditation for other training later in the year underlining our commitment to staff development and the highest standards in training provision.
