Be our guest…
Whether someone wants to stay overnight or spend a few weeks with us, we provide short stay rooms in all of our homes. We can even plan in advance for regular stays. It can be an excellent opportunity to socialise with new people because short stay visitors are able to get involved in all the activities that our long term residents enjoy. For carers, of course, it can mean a chance to have a break themselves, go on holiday or attend important appointments.
Organising a visit
First of all we’ll have a meeting to discuss the forthcoming stay – which may take place at the relevant residential home, but can also be in your own property. You’ll get to meet a couple of members of staff in advance while we can make an assessment and draw up an appropriate care plan. We have compiled a Short stay information sheet that will give you all the information you need about coming in for your short stay.
You may want to write a care plan with your relative before you arrive (or at least complete the bits you can). We welcome families completing as much as possible before admission. You can download and print the care plan from here, fill it in as much as you can and bring it with you on the day of admission.
Please see the resident’s guide for each home for information about the services on offer. You can also run off a personal possessions form to itemise the possessions you wish to bring with you. Don’t forget to pre-book newpapers before you arrive so that they can be delivered to you from day one.
Please contact the home of your choice for more information about respite services.
