Respite Information
Be our guest...
Whether someone wants to stay overnight or spend a few weeks with us, we provide short stay rooms in all of our homes. We can even plan in advance for regular stays. It can be an excellent opportunity to socialise with new people, because short-stay visitors are able to get involved in all the activities that our long-term residents enjoy. For carers, of course, it can mean a chance to have a break themselves, go on holiday or attend important appointments.
Organising a visit
First of all, we will have a meeting to discuss the forthcoming stay - which may take place at the relevant residential home, but can also be in your own property. You'll get to meet a couple of members of staff in advance, while we can make an assessment and draw up an appropriate care plan. We have compiled a Short Stay Information Sheet that will give you all the information you need about coming in for your short stay.
You may want to write a care plan with your relative before you arrive (or at least complete the bits you can). We welcome families completing as much as possible before admission. Print a careplan here, fill it in as much as you can and bring it with you on the day of admission.
Short stay Care plan
Please see the residents guide for each home for information about the services on offer. You can also print off a Personal Possessions List form to itemise your possessions you wish to bring with you. Don't forget to pre-book newspapers before you arrive, so that they can be delivered to you from day one.
Please contact the home of your choice for more information about respite services.
New Enhance Respite Service at Beane River View in Hertford
Do you need an extra boost during your respite stay with us? At Beane River View we have a new respite service, where you can spend between two and six weeks with us, regaining your confidence and day to day skills. We can offer support through our visiting clinical team including a physiotherapist, dietician, pharmacist and a nurse practitioner.
During your stay we can help you with your mobility problems, help you understand and manage your medication and give advice on your general health. We will also advise you on your diet, with recipes and ideas for preparing easy and nutritional meals. Each person will go home with ideas to keep them well and active, and the confidence to live life to the full.
This active convalescence is designed for people recovering from illness, in need of a break or just to get going again. You will be able to have a full assessment to enable you to return home refreshed.
For families worried about loved ones, then this is for you. You can be assured that your friend or relative can have a relaxing break with all the support they deserve.
