Statement Of Purpose
'I will never forget the care and kindness that was shown to Betty, myself and my family. I feel very proud and privileged for Betty to have stayed at The Fairway '
Mr B, Oxhey
'Just to say a big thank you for all the loving care you have given to Dudley during his time spent with you. A fine blend of real understanding and compassion sprinkled with a tough of humour - perfect! '
Mrs B, South Oxhey
Our staff recognise that the decision to move into residential care can be a difficult one for residents and their families to make, and we go out of their way to ensure that residents are made to feel welcome and comfortable in their new surroundings. The Fairway has 45 beds, one of which is for people needing short breaks. About half of our residents are living with dementia.
The home consists of four units, spread over three floors. Each unit has its own team of staff and activity programmes, such as hand and foot massage, music and movement, and other regular activities for residents to enjoy. The home also has a small shop, run by the staff at The Fairway Friends. For those that don't want to visit the shop a trolley goes round weekly for those little essentials. We have a large bright activity room which gets good use.
We encourage new residents to bring personal belongings and items of furniture with them, to personalise their own rooms (Please see the section on valuables). All bedrooms are single with a wash hand basin, television socket, call system and a telephone. Bathrooms and toilets are easily accessible near all the bedrooms.
One hairdresser calls at the home on Tuesday and has the use of our fully equipped salon. Essential services such as chiropodist, optician, dentist and hearing specialists call at the home regularly and offer appointments.
Father Aiden the Catholic Priest calls into the home regularly. Regular services can be conducted in the home by any local church on request and subject to the availability of clergy.
The Fairway also has a Best Friends Café which is open to the community. It is particularly aimed at our guests living with dementia and provides a visiting place which is comfortable and sociable. Tea and coffee is available and there is always a delicious choice of cakes and biscuits.
If you are interested in any of the services please feel free to ring the home directly. There is a Service Request form available to download in the 'Families' section of this site.
If you are specifically interested in short breaks these are booked via Adult Care Services. You may speak to your social worker or phone the call centre on 01438 737400
