I began my career in care homes for older people at the age of 18. All of my career moves from then have been within the sector. I have now worked in care for 35 years.

After completing a City and Guilds Hotel Catering and Management qualification, I started work as a cook in a home for older people. I continued in this post until I had my only child in 1978.

I went back to work after 6 months, initially as a casual cook. As time went on, I became involved in the care aspect and found that this was the part of the job that gave me most job satisfaction.

Over the years, she undertook various training courses and qualifications that gave me the pathway to my current job role. I have worked at all levels within care homes and have been the Registered Manager of 2 homes before taking on the role of Regional Manager in 1996.

I am a qualified Social Worker and have the experience in the delivery of various basic training subjects.

I am one of three Regional Managers who oversee 9 homes each within Quantum Care:
