Built in 2015, Garden City Court in Letchworth Garden City benefits from the very latest in design and equipment to enable both home residents and day centre members to retain independence whilst ensuring support is in ready supply. With links to the local Alzheimer’s Society group, the centre is ideal for those living with dementia and their families to get that extra bit of support to help them to remain in their own homes.
The team are welcoming, friendly and happy to go the extra mile to make sure their members get the most out of their time at the day centre. An activity schedule is in place so that there is always something stimulating for members throughout the day, although staff tailor their activities and plans to meet the preference of the members attending that day. The day centre itself is based directly next to the home’s main activity room, meaning that members are always able to join in with the in home entertainment whether that’s a musician coming in to perform or group crafts activity. The added socialisation with residents in the home is often popular amongst members as they continually enjoy meeting new people and making new friends.
As well as the interior facilities, the home has a beautifully landscaped garden which members are more than welcome to enjoy. Gardening activities can be arranged for those with green thumbs or they can simply sit out and make the most of the sunshine depending on their preference. Personal services such as bathing and laundry are available at the day centre from our staff, all of whom are trained in providing specialist dementia care and support for those with physical disabilities. In addition, hairdressing and chiropody are also available in the home allowing members to benefit from these services from within a familiar and comfortable environment.
