The team at Mayfair Lodge focus on individual engagement with their day centre members. Days get started with tea and toast and the widely requested morning crossword, after which activities are tailored to suit those attending that day. The carers get to know each and every member very well and encourage them to pursue their hobbies and interests and assist with them wherever needed. Group activities are always available, giving members invaluable socialisation and plenty of opportunities to meet and make new friends. Those with difficulties communicating or participating due to disability or dementia are well supported by the centre’s specialist trained care staff and can enjoy activities structured to stimulate them regardless of capacity.
Trips out of the day centre are a common occurrence, giving members the chance to explore new places or revisit favourites and simply to get out and about whether it’s for tea and cake at a garden centre or off to the seaside for the day. Similarly, entertainers are often brought into the centre to offer even more variety to members’ day to day activities. The day centre itself is based within the modern, purpose built Mayfair Lodge care home and benefits from its full range of facilities. For those who enjoy the outdoors, the home’s beautifully landscaped garden is ideal simply for sitting out in the sunshine or taking part in outdoor activities while the interior is designed to accommodate all levels of mobility and offers plenty of space for indoor pursuits.
The home’s kitchen and professional chef provide a hot, two course lunch freshly prepared every day. Relatives caring for older family members and looking for support can be reassured that a detailed assessment of all members’ needs is carried out before they begin attending the day centre and a full care plan is put in place to ensure that each member of staff has a full understanding of the needs of everyone in their care. During their day with us, all of our members have access to a variety of personal services ranging from bathing to chiropody, all from within the comfortable home environment.
The day centre is in Potters Bar and has excellent transport links with both the M25 and A1M with organised minibus collection available. Places are flexible with members able to choose to attend on their preferred days, whether that’s just one day a week or six. New members are welcome to join at any time, and can stay for as long or as little as they like.
