Based in Richard Cox House care home, our day centre in Royston offers a friendly, social environment with members forming real friendships with one another. Situated in the heart of the care home, the day centre is the main venue for activities at Richard Cox House and often welcomes residents from the home to join the members.
Direct access to the garden allows members unhindered access to the beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces at the home which those with an interest in gardening have plenty of opportunity to contribute to. Activities are structured to meet a wide variety of ability levels with volunteers with close links to the home coming in on most days to help out and support the staff in engaging those with higher needs. Group activities are very popular at Richard Cox House whether it’s an arts and crafts project or something as simple as a game of cards. The carers ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in activities and reach out to any who may have difficulty doing so to tailor something that suits them.
Trips out are a regular occurrence at the day centre, often these can just be a walk around the local park or lunch at the pub but each one offers the extra stimulation for members of being able to get out and about. Some trips go further afield with members visiting the seaside or similar destinations for some added variety. The team are committed to getting to know their members and ensuring that they get the most out of their time at the day centre both in terms of socialising and activity and practical care. A cooked, two-course lunch is provided every day and bathing and laundry services are available to all members. Appointments with hairdressers and chiropodists can be also carried out with the familiar surroundings of the day centre. Richard Cox House are always keen to welcome new faces to their group and are happy to take members for as many days per week as they wish to attend.
