Residents looked back fondly on things they used to get for Christmas and festive traditions they had. Image Vesta Lodge Chocolate Tasting Vesta Lodge’s Activity Worker Maria thought it would be a good idea to indulge everyone’s sweet tooth and have a chocolate tasting session! She handed around Swiss, Belgian and Italian chocolates for all to try and rate the chocolates and find out which were everyone's favourites. Image Vesta Lodge Remembrance Day The team at Vesta Lodge spent some time before Remembrance Day putting up their displays. One particularly special one was a board filled with the stories of residents who had served, sharing their experiences. On the day itself, they held a special service in the home to remember those lost. Image Halloween at Vesta Lodge Residents at Vesta Lodge had a lot of fun this Halloween with creepy cakes, spooky costumes and brilliant entertainment from Michael Maisey! Everyone enjoyed the sweet treats and pumpkins were more than happy to take a packet of sweets away with them after the party! Image Vesta Lodge Poetry Club One of Vesta Lodge’s residents, Irene, has recently started up her poetry club again in the home. Poetry is something she's very passionate about and loves sharing this with groups of fellow residents. The club meets weekly and read and discuss the poems and different themes. Image Vesta Lodge Short Stay Resident's Gift A gentleman staying at Vesta for a break is very keen on making jewellery and hand crafts. He had noticed one of our residents had been finding it a little more difficult to hold his knife at mealtimes, so he very kindly made a holder to make the grip much easier for the other gentleman. Image St Albans School Visits Vesta Lodge Volunteers from St Albans School came and joined Vesta Lodge residents for a few afternoon games like skittles and dominoes. Everyone enjoyed a cup of tea and a chat and the volunteers stayed to help all afternoon, as they will be doing every Friday afternoon in the day centre up until Christmas! Image Vesta Lodge Macmillan Coffee Morning Games with family and friends, along with plenty of tea and cakes, helped to make Vesta Lodge’s Macmillan Coffee Morning last week a real success. Thanks to the support of their guests, the home managed to raise over £80 for the charity! Image Vesta Lodge Harvest Service Vesta Lodge residents enjoyed a special Harvest Service last Friday, courtesy of St Julian’s Church who very kindly agreed to switch the home’s regular monthly service dates to coincide with the harvest.
