Belmont View welcomes visit from local MP and Councillor

On Friday 7th February, Belmont View Court Care Home in Hoddesdon were delighted to host a visit from local MP Sir Charles Walker and County Councillor Mr Tim Hutchings.

The special guests were taken on a tour of the home by Home Manager Sharon Howe and Deputy Manager Dawn Curtis, where they spent time chatting with the home’s elderly residents as well as families and staff. They saw some of the specialist Namaste Care being offered at the home, which is a sensory-based care programme delivered to those living with advanced dementia. They also joined in with the Jewish celebration of Tu BiShvat or the New Year of the Trees (held this year on 9th and 10th February) where residents were enjoying traditional fruit such as grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives and dates. The celebration finished with a tree-planting ceremony, where an apple tree was planted in the garden of the home. The day was part of a cultural awareness programme whereby residents learn about different celebrations, festivals, and religious occasions

After the tour, Sir Charles and Councillor Hutchings spent time with Maria Ball, Chief Executive of parent company Quantum Care and Chair of the National Care Forum; the body representing the Not for Profit care sector. They were interested to hear about some of the challenges being faced in social care, as well as to hear about the innovation and creativity currently happening in the Not for Profit sector as a whole.

Home Manager Sharon Howe said “We were really pleased to host Sir Charles and Councillor Hutchings today. The residents, staff and families were looking forward to their visit and enjoyed being able to share the celebration with their special guests. We are extremely proud of the care delivered by our staff team at Belmont View and it is so lovely to have the support of our local MP and County Councillor”.
