She met her husband, Maurice, during WWII whilst training to be a volunteer ambulance driver. During that training session Marjorie played the role of a patient but knocked her head whilst being carried into the ambulance on a stretcher. Fortunately her soon-to-be husband Maurice, who was working for the red Cross at the time, came to her rescue. During her working life Marjorie was employed as a short hand typist by many companies, one of which was a private investigator, however Marjorie's son David said that he could never get her to reveal any secrets! Marjorie's husband, also originally from Wembley, worked in men's tailoring. The couple soon had a son, David, in 1949 who now lives in Redbourn with his family, and then later in 1973 fulfilled a lifelong ambition to move to West Bay in Bridport to live by the coast. After Maurice passed away in 1978 Marjorie moved to St Albans. Marjorie and her family marked her special day with a celebration at Vesta Lodge in Watling View.
