Oomph is coming to Quantum Care!

We are really pleased to announce that we are partnering with Oomph! Wellness to train 48 Quantum Care staff across 16 homes to offer regular exercise sessions to day centre clients, residents and members of the local community.

The training is part of a Sport England subsidised programme which aims to get 27,000 over 55s from inactive to active within the next two years. Each member of staff will attend a 2 day intensive course to qualify with an Active IQ and Skills for Care endorsed qualification, delivered by Oomph! Wellness.

The sessions incorporate strength, flexibility and coordination, with games such as Slipper Soccer, Armchair Volleyball and Clock Cricket – all adapted from traditional versions of the sports to make them accessible for people with a variety of needs and abilities, whilst retaining a sense of competition and fun!

The training will begin on the 12th March and we are aiming to hold our first exercise sessions in early April. Look out for the posters in our homes which will have information about where and when the sessions will be available. If there is not a session in your local home, then ask a member of the home’s Management Team for information about homes nearby.

Quantum Care’s Chief Executive Maria Ball said: “We are delighted to be working with Oomph! Wellness to deliver this programme. Exercise is not only vital for physical health, but also gives people the opportunity to socialise with others, create new friendships and most of all to have fun!”
