OUTSTANDING achievement for Fosse House

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Fosse House have received an Outstanding rating for being a ‘Responsive’ service in their Care Quality Commission Inspection report, released last week. Inspectors made their unannounced inspection visit to the St Albans home on the 24th July and awarded the home with their much-deserved Outstanding in recognition of the “outstanding experiences for people who lived at Fosse House”. The inspector said “The staff team had worked tirelessly to provide people with excellent opportunities to enjoy personalised activities and outings as well as experience new things that they had only ever dreamt of previously”. The inspector was particularly impressed by the Home’s Silver Wishes campaign and the home’s recent 'send a postcard' project where the home are encouraging people through Facebook to send postcards to Fosse House addressed to a random room number and signed as a neighbour of Fosse House. The aim of the campaign is to bring joy to residents from around the world, and particularly for those with no family of their own. These two initiatives, amongst many other activities in the home led the inspector to comment “The registered manager and staff team demonstrated a 'can do' attitude to ensuring people enjoyed opportunities for engagement and stimulation”. The inspector also noted that “The importance of embracing people's faith and beliefs was understood at Fosse House” with festivals such as Diwali and Christmas being celebrated in style. Other special days were also celebrated such as Mothers’ and Fathers’ Day with the inspector noting “Relatives praised the staff team for going the extra mile and supporting families to continue to enjoy these special days”. Fosse House Home manager Zoe Hiscox said “We are all so excited here at Fosse House to have received the Oustanding rating in being a Responsive service. The whole team is extremely passionate about what we do and we work really hard to make sure that our residents receive the best possible care. We are absolutely delighted that this has been recognised by the CQC and I would like to thank everybody for their contribution to what is the most amazing team”.
