Regular Activities at Hyde Valley House

Each month Hyde Valley House makes available an exciting selection of activities for our residents. We have live entertainment twice a month which is always popular with the residents as they join in, sing along and dance. Our carers offer manicures to the residents and we have a monthly visit from a lady that gives a relaxing hand massage. Christine, our regular hairdresser comes in twice a week and knows the residents well, they all come out looking lovely!! Julie, Kerry and Jayne are some of  our activity co-ordinators and they provide a wide range of group activities. The games sessions always end in laughter with giant skittles, table football and bowling among the games that are played with great enthusiasm. Another popular event is the story telling afternoon when the residents are encouraged to share their tales about topics such as their holidays or weddings. Anne has recently introduced Afternoon Tea where a small group of residents are treated to a special tea. All the residents will have the opportunity to enjoy these special events. Each month the kitchen team provides a couple of taster days when the residents get to sample something a little different, such as coconut ice or home made cheese straws. They also make fresh fruit smoothies each week which go down a treat. Birthdays are another highlight as each resident is presented with a personalised birthday cake baked to celebrate the occasion. We recently had a cake decorated with a cheeky looking cat for one of our ladies who is a real cat lover. Full advantage is taken of the fine weather as our residents have a beautiful courtyard garden to sit in. We are also fortunate in having a large park close by and residents are taken for a stroll to enjoy the surroundings (sometime a picnic is taken along). On a Friday morning some of our residents are taken to the local coffee shop or the local pub for lunch. These are just a selection of events that take place each month at our busy home.
