Rock and Roll party at Dukeminster Court Care Home

On Friday afternoon, over 150 guests attended a Rock and Roll party at Dukeminster Court Care Home. The new home opened in April of this year and since that time has become home to 45 older people from the Dunstable area. The party was an opportunity to invite families and friends to come and visit the home and join in the fun. The afternoon began with a performance from the ’At The Hop’ dance troupe who jived their way through a variety of Rock and Roll numbers. Guests were then treated to live shows from some of the homes staff, including dancing from Emily Johnston-Burrows and her cousin, and songs from Hayley Littlewood. This was followed by ‘Somethin Else’ who sang some of the most famous tunes from the 40s and 50s. As well as the entertainment, there were lots of things to keep the whole family busy, including Hook a Duck, Wine Bottle Hoopla, Tea Cup Coconut Shy, Tin Can Alley, Tea and Cakes, Sweet Stall and Face Painting amongst many others. The day ended with Hot Dogs and Chips for all and a visit to the Ice Cream van who paid a special visit to the home. Home Manager Trish Daniel said “we were so pleased to see so many people at the party. Being a new home, we never expected so much support, but we really feel like we are now part of the fantastic Dunstable community. We were also delighted to have the support of our relatives who came along to run some of the stalls for us. Special thanks go to Jackie Meakins and her friend for running the tea and cakes stall fro which she also donated all the cakes. As well as thoroughly enjoying ourselves, we managed to raise over £400 which we will be putting towards our next big party at the home".
