Testimonial For Trefoil House / Ms P, Luton

Our dad has been a resident at Trefoil House for nearly six months and as a family we would just like to put in writing how happy we are with the care that he is receiving. Over the past two years dad has been in four different homes, two for respite and then 14 months at [another home] before moving to Trefoil House in February. Trefoil House is an absolutely fantastic place and the carers do such a brilliant job and the do what their 'name' says, they really do care. Dad is treated with the utmost respect and dignity and we know he is happy. All the staff are so lovely to him and quite often he is treated like a loving grandfather, which we find so comforting. It was so difficult for us as a family to have to consider putting dad into a care home but as his health was deteriorating and his dementia getting worse, mum could no longer cope. We looked at so many homes but none can compare with Trefoil House. Two years on we feel that every home could learn so much from the way Trefoil House train their staff. In six months we haven't found anything that we can fault. We are a large family so dad is visited by one of us every day and we write in a personal diary how we find him. Apart from when he is having one of his frequent chest infections, he is always delighted to see us, full of warm happy smiles and that is how he greets the staff when they frequently pop in to see how he is doing. Also, although he is now wheelchair bound, he goes into the dining room and sitting room every day so interacts with other residents. What can we say about all the fun and special days at Trefoil House that we have all enjoyed as a family, the last one being "The Mad Hatter's Tea Party" - absolutely fantastic. The time, effort, food and fun is evident with all the events we have attended and we are looking forward to the next one! So it is a very big thank you to each and every member of staff for looking after dad so well. If there is an unexpected day when we cannot visit him, we are no longer so anxious because we know that he has such special care and will never be left sitting on his own. Mum is also very happy and really loves going to visit day and she is also treated so well by the staff, as we all are. Kind regards, Ms P (on behalf of the D family) / letter dated 28th July 2011
