Topping Out Ceremony at Anson Court

Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield lays the final tile on new care home

On Wednesday 19th April 2017, Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield Councillor Patricia Mabbott attended the topping out ceremony of a new care home being built on Bericot Green in Welwyn Garden City.

Hertfordshire County Council and care home provider Quantum Care were delighted to reach the milestone that signifies the new building is in its final stages of the build. The new home named ‘Anson Court’ is part of the Quantum Care Re-provision project and will provide a new 75 bed care home for Quantum Care residents currently living at Hyde Valley House in Welwyn Garden City as well as new residents.

Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield Councillor Patricia Mabbott had the privilege of laying the final tile to the roof and was joined at roof level on the scaffold by Quantum Care Chief Executive Maria Ball and Chair of the Quantum Care Board David Priseman, Ian MacBeath, Director of Heath & Community Services from Hertfordshire County Council, Mark Doyle (CEO) and James Blackie (Project Manager) both from the main building contractor Jarvis.

Statement made by the Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield Councillor Patricia Mabbott; “It was my privilege to be asked, having dug the first clod of earth in the initial stages to follow it through to the laying a roof tile was an honour. I very much look forward to seeing Anson Court in all its glory later this year. Judging from the tour of the building at its latest stage I know it will be a provision our Borough will be proud of.”

Following on from ancient traditions, a branch from an Evergreen tree was positioned on the roof during the ceremony that is said to symbolise positivity and luck for future occupants and employees.

Guests at the event included representatives from all organisations involved in the development of the new home along with a number of staff, residents and families from Hyde Valley House. One member of staff from Hyde Valley House commented; “we regularly go for rides out with the residents to check on the progress of their new home where they will be moving to in October this year; it’s been really exciting watching it go up”.

Once complete Anson Court will also incorporate an older persons day care centre and communal facilities; including a café, hairdressers and a small shop for residents and their families.

Maria Ball, Quantum Care Chief Executive stated; “The opening of Anson Court will be an exciting time for all involved, but currently we are paying particular attention in ensuring the move is well planned whilst remaining focussed on providing high quality care for our residents at all times. Our residents will always remain at the heart of all we do.”

The marketing suite will be open at the end of July and there will follow a succession of open days. If you would like to make an enquiry about the new home please contact Quantum Care direct on 01707 393293.
