World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Tuesday 15th June was World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and Quantum Care joined with organisations across the world in holding an event to raise awareness of the issue. Each of our homes invited friends and families to join residents and staff for a tea party on Wednesday 16th June to highlight the abuse of older people and to talk about how communities can work together to support one of the most vulnerable groups. At 2pm residents and staff came together to release balloons to mark their support for the campaign. A spokeswoman for Quantum care said:

Most elder abuse happens because older people are least able to speak up for themselves. One of the most effective ways to tackle and reduce elder abuse is by empowering older people and raising awareness amongst the general public. We hope that these afternoon teas will help us to do that.
