Fourfields Home in Dementia Excellence Finals

12 November 2010

Stirling University held its 4th international dementia conference at the ExCel International Conference Centre, London, on the 19th-21st of October this year. The "Coming of age: Dementia in the 21st century" conference attracted a number of international experts in the field of dementia as well as other professionals from a diverse range of backgrounds.

At a gala dinner the International Dementia Excellence Award ceremony was held with Fourfields, Quantum Care's home in Cheshunt, reaching the finals in the Dementia Team of the year category. These awards are designed to recognise organisations and individuals who have worked to improve the quality of life of people with dementia and are a celebration of innovation and good practice.

The nomination was for the great work that staff at Fourfields have undertaken as part of the Unity project, enhancing the life of residents by providing a supportive environment, meaningful occupation and by improving the meal time experience.

Home manager Sharon Howe and deputy manager Nathan Burton received a certificate of excellence during the ceremony on behalf of Fourfields.

We’re very proud of the staff at the home. Stirling University receives thousands of nominations so getting through to the finals is a fantastic achievement.
