Fosse House resident Derek has always had a passion for wolves and used to photograph wolves being hand-reared. His Silver Wish was to stroke a wolf and, thanks to the team at Fosse and the generosity of the public, his wish came true! Getting back into the car after his incredible experience, Derek said ‘that was better than I had every expected and I can’t thank you all enough’.
The children’s’ dancing group, Dinky Dancers, is coming to Willow Court with their new, weekly drop-in class! Some residents will be joining the class while others are simply looking forward to having the children in the home and joining in with the songs! The first class is Thursday 2nd November from 10:30-11:15 at £5 per child, £2 for siblings.
This month saw the 2017 intake onto our REACH! Management Development Programme. Aimed at creating strong Deputies, this progamme takes on both new Deputies and Care Team Managers identified as having potential to become Deputies in the future. The 8 month course incorporates the Skills for Care ‘Lead to Succeed’ Programme. Good luck to everyone embarking on this next step in their career – it’s a great opportunity!
Elmhurst resident, Christine told the management in the home that she wanted a job in the kitchen. She had her first day last week and is absolutely loving it!
After over two years of dedicated fundraising, Dukeminster Court now have their own minibus for their residents!!! A massive thank you to all of the staff, families, local organisations and members of the public who have helped them to reach their target! The bus will allow staff to take residents farther afield and out of the home more regularly so it’s a fantastic addition to the home. Be sure to give them a wave if you see them out and about!

When the activity team at Mayfair Lodge spoke to one of their residents, they found out that she used to work as a secretary. She said she had always enjoyed it so they brought her a typewriter which she was delighted with and started her reminiscing about her old working life. She also typed up a lovely short note for the home!
Residents and their families had a great time with quizzes, a sing along and a drink or two at Pinewood Lodge’s pub night!
Heath House residents went for a lovely lunch out at Blue Check restaurant in Bushey! They all loved their meals and enjoying a relaxing afternoon in good company.
