Melvin's Surprise

Staff at Willow Court in Harpenden surprised and delighted 75 year old resident, Melvin Armstrong, with the help of the National Police Air Service.
Mr Armstrong, a former designer for car manufacturer Vauxhall, and a mechanical engineering enthusiast, was granted his wish to visit Lippitts Hill Base in Loughton and see the police helicopters.

Rose at Paradise Wildlife Park

Local Councillor Francis Button made a resident’s dream come true when she stepped up to help staff at The Fairway grant 82 year old Rose O’Conner’s greatest wish.
Rose, originally from St Albans, was asked by care home staff to name the one thing she wished for most as part of our Silver Wishes campaign. As a keen animal lover, who fondly remembers keeping several pets as a child including her favourite white guinea pig Minnie, Rose’s answer was that she would like to spend a day with the animals at the zoo.

Ernest with his Award

Today Hertsmere MP Oliver Dowden CBE came to Heath House in Bushey to present Ernest Searling with his medal in recognition of being appointed to the rank of Chevalier in the French Ordre national de la Legion d’honneur. This honour was awarded by the President of France in recognition of Ernie’s service as a Royal Marine during the second world war.
