At Quantum Care we provide dedicated, specialist care for people living with dementia, from the earliest need for some additional support, to the time of most need.
Our approach to dementia care is based on our Rhythm of Life initiative which focuses on recognising, nurturing and celebrating an individual’s strengths so that their lives are full and enriched. Our Homes are recognised for their high quality, innovative and person-centred approach to dementia care, and this runs through all that we do.
Within our Homes you will notice the special features which enable our residents to live as independently as possible.
You will find our Best Friends Café - a dedicated, in-home area which is styled, furnished and equipped to provide our residents with a cafe environment in which to sit and chat with friends and family over tea, coffee and cakes.
As you walk around our Homes you will spot the brightly coloured bedroom doors, and the memory boxes filled with personal photographs and memorabilia – these simple features work as an orientation aid by enabling a person living with dementia to find their own room independently.
At the end of the corridors in our Homes you will find an area of interest, each with a different theme – these themes include travel, sport and gardening, and help to evoke memories for our residents.
These are just a few of the features which create a more dementia friendly environment for our residents, however the design of the building can only really fulfil its true purpose when it is coupled with the kind of care and support which allows our residents living with dementia to thrive.
All of our staff receive dementia care training from induction; this is delivered by our Gold Standard Alzheimer’s Society approved in-house Dementia Trainers, and this continues throughout their career. In addition to this, we have a number of staff who are trained as Dementia Care Mappers, and who are able to carry out assessments on the standard and quality of the care being achieved.
We understand that when a family member is diagnosed with dementia it can be a challenging and emotional journey for both of you, that is why you will find a Dementia Champion within each of our Homes who has completed the Certificate in Dementia Care, and who is trained to offer specialist advice and support to residents and families. As an organisation we also support the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends Campaign. We have now recruited hundreds of Dementia Friends on behalf of the charity, and regularly hold talks within our Homes and local communities.
Our aim is to provide our residents with all of the help and support that they need to live well with dementia.
