Belmont View Residents Visit Houses of Parliament

On 22nd March we were delighted to take residents and staff from Belmont View on a tour of the Houses of Parliament. We were fortunate to have the opportunity to do this following an invite from Charles Walker MP, who has been incredibly supportive of our Hoddesdon care home; opening the brand new extension to the Home in January, and more recently officially opening Belmont View's Q Club – a day club for our local older community to help maintain their independence and wellbeing. It was at this event that Ben Haughton, a care worker at Belmont View asked if a visit to Parliament would be possible for our residents, and Charles Walker MP very kindly obliged. The tour commenced in the historic Westminster Hall, and included a visit to both the Commons and Lords' Chambers. During the tour our guides took everybody through the history of this famous British landmark and answered questions from staff and residents. The tour finished with a well-deserved cup of tea and cakes in the Jubilee Café. It was a fantastic event which was thoroughly enjoyed by both staff and residents. It was certainly a day to remember.
