Community Challenge Update: Jubilee Court Resident Gets Back to Business

Jubilee Court Community Challenge

On Tuesday 10th of October residents and staff from Jubilee Court, our care home in Stevenage, visited the Ann Bridal wedding boutique in Stevenage Old Town which used to be owned by Doris, one of the residents from the home.

The residents visited the shop as part of our month-long Community Challenge competition and were taking part in the Business Challenge. This challenge awards points for taking residents who used to work in a local business back to that business for a visit.

Resident Doris Small originally opened the Ann Bridal wedding boutique, named after her daughter Sally Ann, in Knebworth back in 1972 but relocated to Stevenage some time later. The current manager of the shop, Margaret, worked for Doris in the business over 40 years ago and visits her at Jubilee Court.

During the shop visit a wedding dress which was a best seller when Doris ran the business was brought down for her to see and Doris and Margaret reminisced about the time they worked together. They also spent time looking over old newspaper clippings of the shop.

Melissa King, the home manager of Jubilee Court said: “Doris is still talking about her visit to the Ann Bridal shop. She had a wonderful time reminiscing with her friend Margaret about their time together working in the business. It was a lovely morning out and enjoyed by everyone. It’s also great that Doris helped us complete another of the Community Challenges that we’ve been set.”

If you have a loved one in one of our care homes you can follow their challenge progress by visiting their Facebook page. The home will also have a Challenge Progress Chart displayed somewhere prominently so please do keep an eye out for that. News will also be posted to our main company Facebook page at facebook.com/quantumcareltd so please do join us there!
