December Training Awards at Knebworth Barns

December saw 293 people invited to the Quantum Care training awards to celebrate their achievement of a wide variety of qualifications. These awards included NVQ’s at levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care, in Catering and Hospitality, and in Laundry Services. In addition, a large number of people had gained BTEC awards in Dementia Care and also in the Safe Administration and Storage of Medication at levels 2 and 3. Other staff achieved their Assessors Award, the QC First Line Management and the QC Certificate in Dementia Care certificates. Once again the largest categories were NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care and the Level 2 BTEC in Dementia Care, but 53 members of the management teams had also gained qualifications in the safe administration of medication since the summer. Three members of the Training team were recognized for their achievement of Approved Trainer status with the Alzheimer’s Society at Gold level ( Mim Prior) and at Silver (Claire Lennon and Queenie Cheetham). Tony Grieves from the organisation Carers in Hertfordshire gave a short but moving speech spelling out why it is so important that staff work to develop their skills and knowledge, and to apply their learning consistently in their day to day work.
