It was a day of celebration and gratitude at Belmont View, our care home in Hoddesdon, as staff, residents, and special guests came together to honour former team member Margaret Davison, who has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for meritorious service.

A party was held at the home to mark the occasion, with guests including Maria Ball, Chief Executive of Quantum Care, who presented Margaret with a beautiful bouquet of flowers on behalf of colleagues across the organisation. The celebration reflected the immense pride felt by everyone at Belmont View and within the wider Quantum Care family.

Margaret worked at Belmont View for an incredible 38 years, retiring in 2008. But her dedication to the residents of the home extended far beyond her day-to-day role. For decades, she poured her energy into fundraising, organising and running the much-loved Rummage Sale from the sheds at the back of the home.

Sourcing donations from the local community, Margaret sorted, priced, and sold thousands of items over the years, raising an astonishing £95,000 for the Belmont View Resident Runabout Fund. Her efforts enabled residents to enjoy trips out, a range of meaningful in-home activities, and special items such as the innovative Magic Table – all designed to enhance their quality of life.

Even after retiring, Margaret continued her fundraising work with unwavering commitment, helping to bring joy, comfort, and enrichment to countless residents over the years. Her tireless work has not only supported the wellbeing of those at Belmont View but also built a lasting connection between the care home and the local community.

Maria Ball, Chief Executive of Quantum Care, said:

“We are so proud of Margaret and thrilled that her incredible contribution has been recognised with the British Empire Medal. Her selfless dedication has touched the lives of so many people, and today’s celebration is just a small token of the appreciation we all feel. Margaret – you are an inspiration to us all.”

Belmont View continues to hold a special place in Margaret’s heart, and the feeling is undoubtedly mutual. Her legacy of care, kindness and community spirit will live on for many years to come.
