This week we’ve been taking part in Care Home Open Week, an event designed to showcase the warmth, care and vibrant communities that care homes provide to residents across the country.
We threw open our doors to members of the community and invited them in to take a look at what we have to offer and what life within a care home community is like.
We organised a number of events for people to take part in including live entertainment, exercise classes, bingo and other games and we also provided great food and refreshments.
We were blessed with some fabulous weather so our gardens were also available for people to wander around in and we made sure we took advantage of the sunshine by holding garden parties and BBQs.
Maintaining relationships with the local community, inviting visitors into the home and day tripping out of the home is an important part of care home life; it enrichens the lives of our residents and helps them to stay connected with the people and the places in which the home is located.
This is why, throughout the year, we are constantly looking for opportunities to engage with the community, bringing visitors into the home and enabling residents to visit the people and places close to where they live.
