Melwood Grange, our care home in Royston, proudly celebrated its first anniversary, marking a year of exceptional care, warm hospitality, and meaningful community connections.

Residents, families, and special guests gathered on Thursday 27th November for an afternoon of entertainment, celebration, and reflection. The event featured a lively performance by Miss Balloonatron, whose repertoire of nostalgic favourites filled the home with smiles, toe-tapping rhythms, and heartfelt sing-alongs. In addition to her musical performance, Miss Balloonatron delighted attendees with her remarkable balloon artistry, crafting imaginative props themed around the songs she performed.

Following the entertainment, guests enjoyed a beautifully presented buffet prepared by the home’s chef and culinary team. The afternoon offered the perfect opportunity for residents, families, colleagues, and friends of the home to come together to enjoy refreshments, conversation, and a shared sense of community.

The celebration also provided a moment to look back on Melwood Grange’s first year, which has included the development of a rich activities programme, the strengthening of local partnerships, and the continued growth of a warm, inclusive environment where residents truly feel at home.

Alison King, General Manager of Melwood Grange, expressed her gratitude and pride in the home’s achievements:

“We would like to extend our thanks to Deputy Mayor Councillor Elizabeth Freeman, Councillor Mary Antony, and Councillor Bindi Jani for supporting us today. We are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved in our first year at Melwood Grange. Our residents are at the heart of everything we do, and seeing them sing, laugh, and enjoy themselves made the day truly special. This anniversary is a celebration not just of a year passed, but of the caring, supportive community we’ve built together.”
