Ione Retires After 20 Years of Dedication

Ione Pusey

Ione joined the Quantum Care family all the way back in 2002. She started as a Careworker at Heath House and within a year she had been promoted to Care Team Manager. In 2006 she moved to The Fairway as the home’s Deputy Manager and while there was promoted to Home Manager. Ione managed a number of other care homes during her career including Pinewood Lodge and Courtland Lodge, the latter becoming her final home at Quantum Care.

She’s always been incredibly passionate about the care that she and her staff provide to residents and has always approached her role with compassion, a quality that has helped so very many residents throughout her career, particularly those living with dementia. She has always worked hard to ensure that residents receive the highest quality of care and has been an advocate and champion for the residents in every home she has worked in. In 2008 Ione’s dedication was recognised when she won the Quantum Care “Grand Champion of Dementia Care” award.

Ione’s enthusiasm and devotion also extended to her staff who she supported and encouraged to develop their knowledge and skills, coaching and mentoring many of them personally.

After 20 years at Quantum Care, Ione took the decision to retire. Colleagues and residents gathered at Courtland Lodge, our care home in Watford, to say their farewells at her retirement party where Maria Ball, Chief Executive, spoke about Ione’s remarkable career, finishing with:

“Ione has always been dedicated and passionate about her work, her residents and her staff. She’s worked tirelessly throughout her career to ensure that her residents have received the highest quality of care. She will be greatly missed. On behalf of everyone here today, and from the whole of Quantum Care, I would like to thank you for everything that you have done throughout your career with us and wish you a very, very happy retirement!”

Towards the end of her retirement party Ione was asked how she was feeling; she said:

“I am really sad to be going. I never dreamt that when I came to England and joined Quantum Care that this girl from that little village in Jamaica would become a Home Manager and receive so much love and respect from everyone around her. I hope everyone in Quantum Care continues to be the wonderful, caring group of people that I have come to know and love. I will miss you all.”

And we’ll miss you too Ione, as will all the residents and staff at Courtland Lodge.

Wishing you a very happy retirement!
